The academic journal Science, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), has reported on the launch of ResearchGATE in its current issue (30.May
2008). “The fact that millions of people are already connected through Facebook didn’t stop Ijad Madisch from dreaming up a networking site tailored to life scientists and social scientists”, it says. Though ResearchGATE is obviously not the first social networking platform, the article is headed “Pioneers”: We are the first offer truly matching the needs of the scientific community. Science has a worldwide readership exceeding one million.

University World News(http://www.universityworldnews.com), the first ever global higher education publication, has just carried a piece focusing on researchGATE – see http://www.universityworldnews.com/article.php?story=2008062008590489
It says: "This interactive Web 2.0 Internet service is free and allows registered researchers to tell other members of the global research community about their interests and projects. It allows members to self-publish papers and seek constructive comments from their peers, as well as exchange know-how, request and seek collaborators, and create a network of researchers interested in a topic."
